2021 Jeep Wrangler Review

2021 Jeep Wrangler Review

For eight decades, Jeep has produced the most capable and committed vehicles for drivers who want to explore beyond life’s traditional boundaries. There is no vehicle that epitomizes the Jeep brand more than the Wrangler.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler, with its powertrains, technology, and workhorse capabilities, is now more capable than ever before. With 16 model configurations, two- and four-door options, the ability to add removable doors and a roof, there is a Jeep Wrangler to fit every driver’s needs.

New Features

Each year, Jeep makes the Wrangler better than before. For 2021, the Wrangler added a new 80th Anniversary Edition model, as well as two new powertrains.   The powertrains are the most impressive additions to the Wrangler. A plug-in hybrid 4xe Wrangler offers a turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor.
It delivers 375 horsepower, 25 miles of electric-only driving, and a 0 to 97 km/h acceleration time of 6.0 seconds.   The second new powertrain is in the Rubicon 392 model, and it is a 470-hp V8 engine that accelerates to 9 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

Performance

Power and performance are built into every 2021 Jeep Wrangler model, making it easy to traverse city streets or rugged trails. On the traditional Wrangler, there are four different powertrain options (the 4xe and Rubicon 392 are considered separate models):

  • 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6 (285 hp, 260 lb-ft torque, and 907 kg towing)
  • 2.0-litre Turbo (270 hp, 295 lb-ft torque, 907 kg towing)
  • 3.6-litre VVT V6 with eTorque (285 hp, 260 lb-ft torque, and 907 kg towing)
  • 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 (260 hp, 442 lb-ft torque, and 1,588 kg towing) – four-door models only

Technology and Safety

While the technology and safety features present in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler depend upon the model and options chosen, it is still safe to say that the 2021 Jeep Wrangler is the most capable and advanced Wrangler ever built. The Uconnect 4 multimedia system is controlled by a 7-inch touchscreen and can be built with such features as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and more.

While standard safety features are included on every Wrangler, the more advanced driver-assist technologies vary from model to model. That said, Jeep does offer more than 75 standard and available safety features on the 2021 JeepWrangler, including a rear back up camera, rear park assist system, forward collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, and more.
