For generations, the Jeep Wrangler has been one of Canada’s favourite off-road vehicles. This stylish SUV is not only rugged and practical, but it also features one of the most versatile interiors on the market. This year, Jeep has added several new powertrain and interior features to the Wrangler to make it even more powerful and impressive. Here is a look at how the new 2021 Jeep Wrangler compares to the 2020 model.
Exterior Style
The new Wrangler features a rugged exterior equipped with a durable metal frame, a large and sturdy body, and the iconic round and bright headlights. The Wrangler is one of the most beloved SUVs on the market due, in part, to its versatile exterior design. Drivers have three Open-Air options to enjoy the fresh air while driving the vehicle. The Sunrider soft top now comes in standard, and you can easily remove it in few simple steps. Available options include the Freedom Top hardtop and the available Sky One-Touch Power Top – both are flexible in combination with the removable doors and fold-down windshield to experience the exhilarating Open-Air Freedom.
Changes in the 2021 Wrangler
The 2021 Wrangler comes with a wide range of exterior upgrades to several trims. The Rubicon features an extensive list of off-road gear as well as large and rugged 33-inch tires. To celebrate 80 years of excellence, this year, the Wrangler brings the 80th Anniversary Edition that comes with several stylish upgrades, such as the beach-themed appearance package that offers a unique Tiki hood decal.
Interior Design
The Wrangler’s interior is spacious and versatile. This sporty SUV can seat up to five adults comfortably and offers plenty of legroom for both the front and back seat passengers. There is not only plenty of space for your passengers but also all of your cargo. There is a large cargo area in the back and plenty of storage compartments located throughout the cabin.
The interior also features easy-to-remove carpeting that is weather-resistance and a drain plug in the floorboard to make cleaning the interior quick and easy.
High-Tech Entertainment
The Wrangler comes equipped with an innovative Uconnect system which comes in a colour touchscreen display in three different sizes. It also has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity options. Optional is the Alpine Premium Audio System with nine speakers, a 552-watt amplifier, and an all-weather subwoofer.
Safety Features
The Wrangler comes with several standard safety features that include an advanced airbag system and a traction control system. There is also a wide range of available driver-assist and advanced safety features below:
• Forward Collision Warning
• Blind Spot Monitoring
• Automatic High-Beam Headlamps
• Forward Collision Warning
• Rear Cross Path Detector
• Reverse Camera
• Park Sense Rear Park Assist System
Power and Performance
Both the 2020 and the 2021 Wrangler offer four different engine options. The standard 3.6-litre V6 engine with eTorque utilizes an innovative mild-hybrid system to deliver an impressive 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The available 2.0-litre turbo engine delivers 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. If you are looking for even more towing power, the available 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 engine is able to deliver 260 horsepower and up to 442 lb-ft of torque.
