What do we know about the all-electric Ram so far?

What do we know about the all-electric Ram so far?

Introduction

Introduction

At the Stellantis EV day held earlier this year, Ram announced that it’ll release the full EV version of the half-ton electric truck in 2024. Followers of the Ram brand are, of course, ecstatic, but not much is known to the public. CEO Mike Koval further enticed us by saying that the new generation Ram 1500 EV pickup truck will surpass all expectations based on what electric truck manufacturers have produced so far. We’ve investigated the latest news of the new Ram EV version to understand better what we can expect to see. Read further as we share with you what we’ve found.

Design

Design

Ram has been kind enough to provide some teasers about how Ram’s concept EV will look. From the teaser images, it seems like Ram is in the process of creating a uniquely designed truck that won’t look like anything other manufacturers have produced to date. The front will have a new illuminated emblem with the same font used on the Ram Revolution website. There are also daytime lights that run above and below the headlights. The entire truck’s form has a futuristic look that incorporates a dome-shaped front bonnet. The rear has a full-length tail light that follows the design of the front. The rear also incorporates the Ram Revolution logo at the centre of the tail light.

The Ram 1500 EV will be built on the STLA frame that’ll feature the Stellantis EDM three-module. According to Stellantis, the EDM three-module can produce 330-kilowatts of power output. In other words, one EDM module will be able to put out 443 horsepower. Interestingly, Stellantis also said that the STLA frame platform could handle up to three EDM modules simultaneously. It could mean that the Ram EV will potentially be able to produce an insane amount of horsepower. For example, 443 horsepower times three will equal 1,329 horsepower!

Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

From what we know so far, the Ram 1500 EV sounds like it’ll be the best half-ton EV truck ever produced. As the Ram Revolution advertisement says, “the revolution doesn’t begin when the first electric truck will roll off the production line, but it’ll begin when the first best electric truck will roll off the production line.” We’re ready for the revolution!
